On Top of the World

So, this is what you get when I return to bloggy action. A comment on statistics...about happiness and death.
I read today that the Finns are ranked second in Europe in terms of self-assessed happiness, right after the Danes - the likes of Italy, Greece and Portugal are wallowing at the bottom in their sun-drenched misery.
On the other hand, a cursory glance at suicide rates tells us that the Finns dispose of themselves twice as readily as these poor souls.
This leads me inevitably to conclude that Finns have only two basic modes: 'Bloody hell it's a nice day' or 'No! Out of bog roll again! Right, only one thing for it, I'm sticking my head in the oven'.
Life's simple when it's so binary.
